The scream had been what woke Angel up. She realized she fell asleep after thinking about her mother.
However, the shout was muddled in her sleepiness, so she couldn't clearly hear the words. She was about to go back to sleep, dismissing it as merely a dream, when another loud noise alerted her to attention. It sounded like another shout, coming from the alley next to her window.
She got up, curious. Being the daughter of the Chief of police had apparently rubbed off on her, and she decided to investigate. She stepped out of her warm bed, her bare feet rubbing against the soft rug she had put over the worn wooden flooring. On her way to the little window that overlooked the alley, Angel passed in front of the floor mirror she had propped against the wall.
She still wore her clothes from before; apparently her father hadn't woke her up once they had gotten home. He must have put her right into her bed and left. Around her neck was the Tentou Saiken, which she had kept on. She left the Scythe Kusari as it was, so that the two necklaces wouldn't clash, and so a possible Shinigami wouldn't think she had stolen one. But mostly cause they clash, she thought with a smile.
To make sure there was no chance of being caught, she needed to see if her father was home and if so, what he was doing. Putting her ear to the door, Angel heard her father's snores coming from across the hallway. I'll need to be quiet, then, she thought. She padded over to her window, opening it slowly and stepping out onto the fire escape. Their apartment was only on the second story, so it wasn't hard for her to see a clear view of the dark alley.
She scanned the shadows until her eyes had adjusted fairly well, and she saw three figures. One was a boy lying on the ground; he was unmoving and looked to be sleeping or something similar. The next person was that of a girl, her long pink hair standing out against her black dress and heeled ballet shoes. Her expression was furious, and Angel wondered if she had been the one to shout. Angel saw, startled, that she appeared to hold a Scythe. Angel then sensed the aura surrounding her. Just like what her mother had stated, it was dark and shadowy. Is that a Shinigami? Angel wondered, straining her eyes. However, the last figure caught her eye and she turned her attention to him.
The third person stood out the most to her. His silver hair caught the eye, and a black coat billowed out behind him. His red eyes gleamed with determination, and he stood his ground, glaring at the girl.
Why does he look so familiar? Angel asked herself, closing her eyes and thinking as hard as she could. They flew open when she realized he was the boy from the photograph. The one that robbed the game store, she thought. Angel didn't know exactly what the best way to apprehend a criminal was, so she decided to just try and capture him with brute strength.
She kept quiet and hidden, scaling down the fire escape's ladder until she was only a few feet off the ground. As quietly as she could manage, Angel jumped and landed gracefully on her feet.
She decided to run up and try to knock the wind out of him somehow. Angel gathered all her strength, and ran out from the shadows.
Everything seemed to go in slow motion. The girl showed a flicker of surprise on her face, turning to face Angel's direction, before returning to a smug expression. When he saw her change in expression, the boy turned. This left him open for Angel, who ran up and kicked him in the side of the stomach.
His face showed shock before he was thrown to the side, sliding on the pavement. "Nice. The human goes and hits the first blow. Very macho, Hercules," The pink haired girl snickered.
Angel didn't want to ask openly if the girl was a Shinigami, but she did anyway. "A-are you a Shinigami?"
The girl looked mildly surprised again. "Yes...you seem to be human, but also an angel. Are you disguising your aura?" she questioned.
"Not exactly," Angel offered. "But what are you doing with him?" she asked, motioning to the boy, who still hadn't moved.

(Candy's P.O.V.)

Candy knew an opportunity when she saw one, and this was probably the best one she'd seen yet. Whoever she is, she's definitely not an angel. Or full angel, for that matter, cause any angel with half a brain would know I'm a Shinigami. Suddenly Candy gasped quietly.
This might be the half human, half angel I heard about. Maybe it'd be fun to see what she's capable of! Candy let a quiet giggle escape her lips, careful not to let the angel girl hear.
Slowly a plan formed in her head, a perfect plan. "Before I tell you anything, I kinda wanna know your name. My name's Candy; what's yours?"
The stupid girl answered, showing no change in emotion. "I'm Angel," she said simply. Candy nodded enthusiastically.
"Okay, well, I guess I'll tell you what I'm doing. He," Candy said, pointing to Lance "is a rouge Shinigami by the name of Lance Kumori. He was breaking laws and killing Shinigami in Hateshinai with his partner-in-crime, Sayou Seishou. They tried to run away to the human world, but I was sent after to capture them. I managed to take down Sayou easily, but…I might need your help to capture Lance. He's on another level." Candy lied smoothly. Yeah, like I'd need any of your crappy help, she thought with a mental smirk.
"Um, what's Hateshinai again?" the girl asked, clearly trying to be nonchalant about it. Stupid. Even the youngest angel knows what it is, Candy thought with a giggle. She decided to let it go by as if the half breed hadn't made a slip-up.
"Silly! Don't you remember? It's the realm of the Shinigami and where we live and stuff!" Candy answered. The girl was definitely the half breed.
"Oh, right! I remember. Just slipped my mind for a second there." Angel answered quickly, smoothing her skirt.
"It's happened before," Candy said with a smile. Yeah, RIGHT, she thought. "So can you capture him for me? I feel a little faint…" she finished, pretending to stagger, leaning against the alley wall and breathing deeply.
"I-I guess I could try…" she said uncertainly, looking concerned. She looked over to Lance, who was now standing, seemingly recovered. Candy saw the uncertainty in her eyes change to blazing determination, and the girl looked ready to kick some serious ass.
Being a drama queen definitely paid off…Candy thought with a grin. She leaned against the wall, twirling her scythe. The only thing I'm missing is the popcorn.
